After a frustrating 14^th place finish in the Eastern Conference and nearly ten years without a playoff appearance, the pressure on GM Peter DeBoer is certainly rising to get the team from Florida back to the post-season. Albeit the Panthers did not make any big moves this summer, the franchise had no less than three first round picks, including third overall pick Erik Gudbranson. Thus, the Florida Panthers will be looking for a win versus Dustin Penner and the Edmonton Oilers on Monday at midnight GMT.

Much like Florida, the Oilers are also coming off a devastating season as coach Tom Renney's squad posted an awful 27-47-8 record and finished 2009-10 as worst team in the entire league. That being said, Edmonton received the number one overall pick this summer which resulted in Taylor Hall being signed to a three year-deal worth approximately $11 million. In the preseason, the Oilers showed some progress and managed to win four out of six down the stretch. Therefore, the Panthers and Oilers could find themselves on a relatively level playing field when the game gets underway on Monday.
