Being among the elite of the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals are hoping to make a run at the championship this year. Both teams got off a good start into the season beating the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes respectively. Thus, the exciting matchup between the Flyers and Capitals will get underway at Wachovia Center on Tuesday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Although the Capitals performed well in recent years, GM George McPhee felt the team could need some more offensive firing power and signed Brendan Morrison and Mike Knubble during the off-season. Thus far, the team around Alexander Ovechkin fared well with said acquisitions as they managed to secure a surprisingly easy 4-1 victory versus the Boston Bruins. Similarly, the Flyers were able to shock the Eastern Conference finalists from North Carolina with a tremendous defensive performance on the road resulting in a shootout.

Given the fact that both teams have a very deep bench and more often than not play well on both ends of the ice, everything points to close game between two of the best teams in the East. While the Capitals are counting on All-Star Ovechkin to carry them to another win, Philadelphia is hoping to repeat their defensive minded team effort in order to gain a crucial win versus the rivals from D.C. Either way, hockey fans around the league will get the opportunity to watch an exciting game of NHL hockey when the Capitals will be in Philly on Tuesday night.
