Albeit the Canucks slowed down a bit as of late, they are still third in the Western Conference and could make some noise in the post-season. Hoping to stay at the top of the Northwest Division, Henrik Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks will take on the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday at 1:30 a.m. GMT.

Considering that the Hawks’ front-office was hoping for another post-season appearance and possibly competing for home-ice advantage, the performance of coach Joel Quenneville’s squad certainly exceeded said expectations. More precisely, Chicago is still in the race for the first overall seed as they trail the leading San Jose Sharks by just two points, posting an impressive 41-15-5 record. One key to their recent success has certainly been their aggressive defense as the Blackhawks are the best defensive team in the Western Conference at just 2.3 goals per contest.
Similarly, Vancouver also turned out to be one of the better teams at the defensive end of the ice up to this point. However, the Canucks had no problems finding the net either, led by the Swedish twin brothers Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin. That said, clinching the Northwest Division title might turn into a head-to-head race with the Colorado Avalanche who trail the franchise from British Columbia by just one point. Nonetheless, it should be mentioned that the Canucks spent nearly an entire month on the road due to preparations for the 2010 Winter Olympics and could very well take advantage of their upcoming homestand. Either way, hockey fans around the globe can expect a highly contested game between two fairly even teams on Saturday night.
