Given the fact that the Canucks lead the entire NHL with an outstanding 42-16-9 record, things could have hardly gone any better for Daniel Sedin and company. Highly motivated to defend the number one overall seed, the Vancouver Canucks will travel south to meet Patrick Marleau and the San Jose Sharks on Friday at 3:30 a.m. GMT.

Just one month ago, it looked like the Sharks might not even make it to the playoffs as the team around Dany Heatley struggled to show any consistent effort. However, the franchise from California finally pulled its act together and made a run to get back into the playoff mix. In fact, San Jose lost just two of its last ten games and established itself at the top of the Pacific Division, posting a 38-22-6 record. Especially Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley elevated their level of play and scored 54 and 53 points respectively up to this point. That said, the Sharks will most likely have to show another strong performance when they face the Sedin brothers on Friday night.

Being right at the top of the Western Conference halfway through the season, the Canucks once again demonstrated that they are one of the best overall teams in the league. Thus, Daniel Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks are looking to secure their fifteenth road win of the season when they meet the San Jose Sharks on Friday at 3 a.m. GMT.

While there were heated debates about whether the Sharks would finally be able to make a championship run or not in this year’s NHL campaign, hardly anyone thought that Patrick Marleau and company would struggle the way they did in the first four months of regular season action. Yet, San Jose won just 22 out of 46 games and finds itself right outside the playoff picture, hanging on to the tenth place in the West. Trying to get back on track, the Sharks are hoping that their offensive lines around Dany Heatley, Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau, will finally play up to their potential and help the team to get a win versus the Canucks on Friday night.

Holding on to the second best record in the West, the Canucks have showcased electrifying up-tempo hockey in the first four months of regular season action. Confident to stay on top of the Northwest Division, Daniel Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks will meet the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavilion on Tuesday at 3:30 a.m. GMT.

Although the Sharks have been playing better hockey as of late, the veteran team around Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau is still not anywhere near the level of play of recent years. Holding on to a 19-12-5 record and the sixth place in the Western Conference, San Jose is not quite where they want to be and is looking forward to a better second half of the regular season. Especially their defensive performance has been mediocre at best and will have to improve dramatically if the franchise from California wants to compete for a Stanley Cup title down the stretch. Looking to make a step forward, the Sharks will do their best to overcome the Canucks in front of their home crowd on Tuesday night.

Even though the San Jose Sharks already secured home-ice advantage, the team around Dany Heatley is still battling with the Chichago Blackhawks for the first overall seed in the Western Conference. Thus, the San Jose Sharks will host Henrik Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks at HP Pavilion on Friday at 2:30 a.m. GMT.

Where as most experts expected San Jose to establish themselves right at the top of the Western Conference, the Canucks' success was much more surprising. More precisely, the franchise from British Columbia leads the Northwest Division as they went on to post an impressive 48-27-4 record. In fact, Vancouver could still clinch the second seed if they manage to get past the Chicago Blackhawks in the remaining week of action. Offensively, the Sedin brothers have been spectacular all year long, especially Henrik Sedin who recorded 29 goals and 77 assists for a total of 106 points in 79 appearances.

In contrast, the Sharks are definitely one of the most talented teams in the entire league as of now. Possibly entering the playoffs as number one seed in the Western Conference, Joe Thornton and company have slowed down a bit over the last few weeks but remain one of the toughest teams in the NHL. Most importantly, San Jose has been nearly unstoppable at the offensive end of the ice, averaging no less than 3.2 goals per contest. Taking everything into account, the Sharks and Canucks could find themselves on a fairly level playing field when the game gets underway on Friday night. Where as San Jose might have an edge offensively, Vancouver's defense will most likely be a tougher obstacle for the team around Dany Heatley than they are used to.
