San Jose Sharks v Toronto Maple Leafs Live

Leading the Western Conference after four months of action, the Sharks’ front-office is very content with the way coach Todd McLellan’s squad has performed up to this point. Hoping to clinch another victory on the road, the San Jose Sharks will face Tomas Kaberle and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday at midnight GMT.

Unlike San Jose, the Maple Leafs did not even remotely live up to the expectations of their fan base and find themselves at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Posting a disappointing 18-28-11 record, very little worked out for the franchise from Ontario as the team appears to be bound for another year out of the playoff picture. Most importantly, the Leafs’ defensive efforts have been horrific all year long and allowed their opponents to score a whopping 197 goals in just 57 games. Likewise, Toronto was unable to perform at home and turned out to be the second worst home-team in the entire league, winning just 10 out of 27 games.

In contrast, the Sharks once again look like everyone’s favorites to enter the playoffs as number one seed in the Western Conference. Five points ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks, Dany Heatley and company showcased exciting up-tempo hockey and are among the best offensive teams at 3.4 goals per contest. Leading the Sharks’ offense, Joe Thornton has been phenomenal thus far, putting up no less than 15 goals and 56 assists for a total of 71 points in 57 games. Similarly, Patrick Marleau and Dany Heatley are well on their way to crack the 100-point mark as both players recorded 62 points already. Therefore, San Jose will evidently enter their encounter with the Leafs as undisputed favorites to come away with a win at Air Canada Centre on Tuesday night. Ultimately, it is hard to imagine how Toronto’s turnover prone defense could possibly contain the Sharks’ dynamic offense around All-Star Joe Thornton.
