Considering how competitive the Western Conference was last year, many experts fail to see how Minnesota could possibly make it to the post-season in 2010-11. Yet, despite lacking an All-Star caliber player, the Wild have been performing reasonably well so far, posting a 4-3-2 record. Thus, the Minnesota Wild will host Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday at midnight GMT.

Although the Sharks did not play as consistently as in past years up to this point, there is no doubt that the team around All-Star Dany Heatley will eventually make its way to the upper echelon of the Western Conference in this year's NHL campaign. Most importantly, San Jose might have to elevate its energy level at the defensive end of the ice as they allowed their opponents to score nearly 3 goals per contest. However, despite these weaknesses early in the season, the Sharks should have an edge over Minnesota on Wednesday night.
