Considering the Senators' ambitions, the franchise's front-office was not overly thrilled with the team's slow start into this year's NHL campaign. However, Ottawa subsequently showed some improvement and was able to bounce back with wins versus the Florida Panthers and Phoenix Coyotes last week. Thus, Alexei Kovalev and the Ottawa Senators are looking to keep their winning streak alive when they meet the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Unlike the Senators, the Leafs are very excited with their performance in the first month of regular season action. More specifically, the franchise from Ontario was able to pull off an impressive turnaround after a year at the bottom of the league last season. Holding on to a 5-3-1 record, Toronto is confident to keep up their high energy level at the defensive end of the ice in order to stay in the playoff race as the season goes on. Therefore, hockey fans around the league can expect an entertaining match between the two Northeast Division rivals from Ontario on Tuesday night.

After a disappointing loss in their home opener versus Montreal the Toronto Maple Leafs are still waiting for their first win of the 2009-10 season. However, the Ottawa Senators are no easy match-up either after undergoing some major changes over the summer. Thus, the Maple Leafs will host the Senators at Air Canada Centre on Tuesday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Although Ottawa is entering the season without All-Star forward Dany Heatley, the Ontario based Franchise is hoping to make a post-season appearance this year. Arguably, the Senators’ offense could be better than in 2008-09 since General Manager Bryan Murray managed to sign high-scoring forwards Jonathan Cheechoo, Milan Michalek and Alexei Kovalev.

The Maple Leafs on the other hand are certainly not content with their performance thus far. More specifically, the franchise focused on strengthening their defense during the off-season by acquiring Mike Komisarek from the Montreal Canadiens and former Anaheim Ducks defender Francois Beauchemin. Being signed to multi-year contracts worth $22.5 million and $11.4 million respectively, the franchise undeniably expects a major performance increase on the defensive end of the ice. However, the 4-3 overtime loss in the first game of the season certainly did not match said goal and further increases the pressure on coach Ron Wilson’s squad.

Considering what both teams have shown thus far, this match-up could still be anyone’s game. While the Senators are trying to find their rhythm offensively without NHL All-Star Dany Heatley, the Leafs are still lacking coordination of their new defense lines. Thus, it remains to be seen whether Toronto will be able to overcome their rivals from Ontario when the game gets underway on Tuesday night.
