Albeit the Rangers showed some positive signs in the first week of action, they subsequently lost three in a row and are under considerable pressure to avoid a slow start into the 2010-11 season. While the Devils might have one of the best rosters in the East on paper, the team around All-Stars Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise has yet to play up to its potential in this year's NHL campaign. Two weeks into the season, New Jersey finds itself at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, holding on to a poor 1-4-1 record. Most importantly, Ilya Kovalchuk and company failed to perform defensively as they allowed 3.6 goals per contest. Therefore, the Devils are looking to tighten their defensive lines to avoid another loss versus the Rangers on Sunday night.
