While the Maple Leafs got off to a surprisingly good start into this year's NHL campaign, the team from Ontario subsequently slowed down and lost seven straight over the last two weeks. Thus, the Toronto Maple Leafs will try to stop their losing skid when Zach Parise and the New Jersey Devils are in town on Friday at midnight GMT.

Although the Devils were confident to compete for a championship in 2010-11, they hardly lived up to their own expectations so far. Having lost 12 out of 17 games in the first six weeks of play, New Jersey struggled significantly and will have to improve drastically to make it to the playoff mix down the stretch. Especially the Devils' performance at the offensive end of the ice left much to be desired as they have been averaging just 1.9 goals per contest. Given the fact that New Jersey acquired All-Star Ilya Kovalchuk this summer to improve their offensive lines, their poor productivity is somewhat surprising. That said, the Devils should be able to overcome the struggling Leafs if they play up to their full potential on Friday night.
