Dropping their season opener versus the Calgary Flames, the Edmonton Oilers are all fired up to bounce back versus the Canadiens at home. On Sunday at 2 a.m. GMT, the Montreal Canadiens will be in Alberta to face the Oilers in front of their home crowd at Rexall Place.

Without any doubts, the team of coach Pat Quinn was very frustrated after losing a 4-3 nail-biter versus their rivals from Calgary. More specifically, former All-Star goalie Nikolai Khabibulin made a crucial mistake when the game was tied with just under a minute left in regulation, resulting in a loss for the Oilers after coming back from a two-goal deficit. The Montreal Canadiens on the other hand started their season opening road trip with two straight wins in Buffalo and Toronto and are confidently heading to Edmonton. Off-season acquisitions Brian Gionta and Mike Cammalleri appear to fit well into the team and already combined for two goals and four points in the first two games of the new season. However, the match-up between the Oilers and Canadiens will most likely be more even than the aforementioned results may suggest. Most importantly, Montreal did not appear to be very comfortable on the defensive end of the ice despite only allowing four goals in two games. In fact, the Canadiens were outshot by nearly twenty shot attempts in each game and allowed 35 and 46 shots respectively. While goaltender Carey Price did a phenomenal job versus the Sabres and Maple Leafs, the defensive intensity will have to improve significantly in order to stay competitive throughout the season. Thus, the Oilers appear to be on a level playing field with the Canadiens when the game will get underway on Sunday at 2 a.m. GMT.
