Although Minnesota's performance in the first week of play was relatively poor, the Wild subsequently clinched two wins to stay in striking distance of the playoff mix. Thus, the Minnesota Wild will try to stay on track when they meet Daniel Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday at 2 a.m. GMT.

After a third place finish in the Western Conference in 2009-10, the Canucks are hoping to become a legitimate Stanley Cup contender in this year's NHL campaign. However, up to this point the team around Daniel Sedin did not play up to its potential as Vancouver posted a mediocre 2-3-1 record to start the season. Especially the Canucks' performance at the defensive end of the ice left much to be desired as the squad of coach Alain Vigneault allowed no less than three goals per game. That said, Henrik Sedin and company will enter their matchup with Minnesota as favorites to secure a home win nonetheless. Ultimately, it appears to be questionable whether the Wild's defensive lines will be able to slow down the Canucks' high-octane offense.

Coming off disappointing road losses versus the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks, the Minnesota Wild have three more road games ahead of them before heading back home. Thus, the Vancouver Canucks will host the Minnesota Wild on Sunday at 2 a.m.

After clinching consecutive victories versus the Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars, Henrik Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks are confidently awaiting the shorthanded Minnesota Wild. Even though the team did not get off to a good start in 2009-10, the Canucks successfully bounced back in the second week of play. While Vancouver’s offensive lines appeared to function well, coach Alain Vigneault’s squad did not consistently bring the same effort on the other end of the ice as they allowed 3.4 goals per contest thus far.
In contrast, the Minnesota Wild have shown little to no signs of a comeback and continued to struggle. To make things even more difficult for Todd Richard’s team, the Wild will enter the game without Petr Sykora and Cal Clutterbuck. Especially the absence of Petr Skyora is bound to hurt the team as he was brought in to replace Marian Gaborik after the latter signed a multi-year deal with the New York Rangers. Even though the odds seem to favor the Canucks, the match-up with the Wild might not be an easy one. In fact, Vancouver will have to play without Daniel Sedin who is sidelined by a minor injury. Nonetheless, his teammates will be able to count on his twin brother Henrik who leads the Canucks in scoring with three goals and eight points.
