The Wild have been having a most difficult season in the Northwest division, while the Ducks have fared only slightly better in the Pacific. Hockey channel live streaming gets underway this coming Monday the 9th March 2009 at 01:00 GMT.

The Wild are in midst of a terrible run that has seen them win just three of their last ten games. That stretch has seen them drop to 11th place in the NHL's Western Conference. If the Wild are to reach the Stanley Cup playoffs, head coach Jacques Lemaire will need to get the likes of Mikko Koivu playing their best.
The Anaheim Ducks are running neck and neck with the Dallas Stars, the Edmonton Oilers, and the Nashville Predators for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The club from the Honda Center will be featuring a number of recently acquired players this week as a result of five trades that were completed. Among the new faces are defensemen Ryan Whitney and James Wisniewski along with forwards Erik Christensen and Petteri Nokelainin. They were added to a club that already boasted the likes of Bobby Ryan, and Chris Pronger.

Dropping three out of four games, the Minnesota Wild are having a tough time trying to find their rhythm in 2009-10. Unfortunately for the Wild, they are about to enter another difficult match-up as they will face the high-scoring Ducks in Anaheim on Thursday at 2 a.m. GMT.

Some reasoned that the main problem of the Wild this year could be the lack of offensive production after losing Marian Gaborik to the New York Rangers during the off-season. However, the big issue thus far has been the poorly organized defense that allowed 15 goals in four games. Ironically, the only win for coach Todd Richards’ squad happened in their first encounter with the Anaheim Ducks last week.
The Ducks on the other hand bounced back after starting the season with two consecutive losses. Defeating the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins with 9-3 goals combined, Anaheim showed that they are able to play as good as anyone in the league on a good night. In the first week of action, 39-year old right wing Teemu Selanne showed that he is still a very capable forward as he tallied four goals. Likewise, Corey Perry continued to shine and recorded two goals and three assists in the first four games of the season.
Given the fact that the Wild already defeated Anaheim last week, it appears to be a justified assumption that they will make the Ducks work hard on Thursday. Nonetheless, the franchise from California indisputably has more talent on their roster and will enter this match-up as favorites to secure their third win in 2009-10. Even though the Ducks are not a particularly consistent team, they will more likely than not put significant pressure on Minnesota’s defensive lines.
