Friday 1st April 03:00 - 06:00 GMT

While the Kings are holding on to a respectable fifth place in the West, the team around Anze Kopitar will have to keep up its level of play to make it to the post-season as they are just five points ahead of the ninth placed Calgary Flames. Hoping to get a win on the road, the Los Angeles Kings will play Daniel Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks on Friday at 3 a.m. GMT.

Without any doubts, the Canucks have been by far the most dominant team in this year’s regular season. Even though there are still six games to be played, Vancouver has already clinched the number one seed in the Western Conference as they posted a remarkable 50-17-9 record. Even more impressive is the fact that the Canucks are not only the best offensive team in the NHL at 3.2 goals per contest, but also the most efficient squad at the other end of the ice, as well as among the league’s leaders in powerplay and penalty killing percentage. On top of all that, the franchise from British Columbia can count on Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin to carry the team when necessary as they recorded 96 and 89 points respectively. Therefore, Vancouver will be the undisputed favorite heading to its match-up with the L.A. Kings on Friday night.

Considering that the Kings had missed the playoffs several years in a row, GM Dean Lombardi was certainly content when Anze Kopitar led the franchise back to the post-season in 2009-10. Hoping to continue their upswing, the Los Angeles Kings will make their way to Canada to face Daniel Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Sunday at 0:30 a.m. GMT.

The Canucks on the other hand are coming off a third place finish in the Western Conference but were eventually eliminated by the Chicago Blackhawks in the Conference Semifinals. That said, franchise cornerstone Daniel Sedin missed nearly 20 regular season games, although the Swedish forward was still able to record 29 goals and 85 points in 2010-11. Similarly, his twin brother Henrik Sedin finished the season with no less than 112 points to lead the Canucks' high octane offense to a Pacific Division title. Thus, it appears to be rather unlikely that the Kings' mediocre defense will be able to stop Vancouver and prevent the Canucks from coming away with a win on Sunday night.
