Despite a very respectable 46-30-6 record this season, the Kings finished just seventh in the highly competitive Western Conference. Nonetheless, the Los Angeles Kings showed that they are no easy opponent to overcome and are hoping take the series lead versus Dany Heatley and the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavilion on Friday at 2:30 a.m. GMT.
Even though the Sharks experienced some slumps at different points in the regular season, the team around Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton ultimately pulled its act together and made an impressive run in the last month of regular season action to clinch the second playoff berth in the West. However, their performance in the first round of the playoffs left much to be desired as they lost home-ice advantage with a devastating 4-0 loss in game two. Therefore, San Jose will have to bring its A-game to take back the series lead when they face Anze Kopitar and company on Friday night.

Whereas Los Angeles might have struggled to perform defensively in recent years, the team around Anze Kopitar has certainly addressed this issue and currently ranks fifth in the league at just 2.4 goals per contest. Hoping to put themselves in a good position for the playoffs, the Los Angeles Kings will try to steal one on the road when they play Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday at 2 a.m. GMT.
After winning six of their last seven games, the Sharks established themselves on the second place in the Western Conference and are confident to compete for a Stanley Cup title in this year’s NHL campaign. Especially their offense has been much better as of late, led by Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton who recorded 66 points each up to this point. Likewise, their depth at both ends of the ice could be a crucial factor in the playoffs as San Jose has few weak spots in their rotation. Nonetheless, the Sharks should not underestimate the Kings on Tuesday night as Anze Kopitar and company have demonstrated that their defensive intensity can make things difficult for opposing teams.
