Even though the Canucks played very well throughout most of the 2008-09 season, the team from British Colombia was unable to catch a break in their first week of play this year. More specifically, coach Alain Vigneault’s squad got beaten three times in a row and failed to show any consistent defensive energy thus far. Even though they bounced back versus the Montreal Canadiens, there are still many questions marks surrounding Vancouver. Hoping to clinch their second victory in 2009-10, the Canucks will take on the Dallas Stars at General Motors place on Monday at 2 a.m. GMT.

After some changes in their front office and coaching staff, the Dallas Stars made it clear that they are expecting their team to make it back to the post-season this year. However, the Stars failed to live up to said expectations in their first games of the season. Even though the team around veteran forward Mike Modano did not play particularly bad, they lost both of their games in penalty shootouts versus the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers respectively.The Canucks on the other hand are just coming off their first win of the season after three disappointing losses versus the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets. Nonetheless, said win turned out to be a 7-1 blowout versus the Montreal Canadiens and made peace with their fanbase to some extent.Given the fact that neither team has been able to perform very convincingly thus far, it still appears to be anyone’s game. One crucial factor for the Stars could be Mike Modano who will probably be a game-time decision after a minor injury last week. In contrast, the Canucks will be able to count on the offensive output of the Sedin twin brothers. In the first four games of the season, Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin already combined for 2 goals and 6 assists resulting in a total of 8 points.
