Despite losing leading scorer Mike Cammalleri in the off-season, the Calgary Flames had an excellent start into the new season with two straight wins versus the fellow Canadian franchises from Edmonton and Vancouver. Relying to a great extent on the team effort of their role players, the Flames have proven to be an unpleasant team to face. In their fourth regular season game, the Calgary Flames will take on the Dallas Stars at Pengrowth Saddledome on Saturday at 1 a.m. GMT.

In contrast, the Dallas Stars opened up the 2009-10 NHL campaign with an overtime loss versus the Nashville Predators at home. Given the fact that the team finished at the bottom of the Western Conference last year many experts around the league expected significant changes in the off-season. However, the Stars did very little except a few lateral moves over the summer and bringing in Marc Crawford as coach and Joe Nieuwendyk as General Manager.

Unfortunately for the Stars, said moves might not be enough to clinch a road win versus the dynamic Flames in Alberta on Saturday. Even though Mike Modano is already 39 years old, he is still an excellent player and valuable locker room presence. However, Dallas does not appear to have the individual talent necessary to climb to the top of the Western Conference and will most likely face a tough challenge when the game between the Flames and Stars gets underway on Saturday at 1 a.m. GMT.
