Considering the Sharks’ regular season performance last year and the acquisition of All-Star forward Dany Heatley this summer, the franchise from California turned into a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. Thus, San Jose will host the Columbus Blue Jackets at HP Pavilion on Friday at 2:30 a.m. GMT.

After being upset by a 5-2 loss versus the Colorado Avalanche in the season opener, the San Jose Sharks bounced back and were able to overcome the Anaheim Ducks with a convincing 4-1 win. Newly acquired All-Star Dany Heatley already added two assists in his first two games as a Shark, but has yet to score his first goal for San Jose.

Given the fact that the Blue Jackets made it to the playoffs in 2008-09 for the first time in five years, the franchise is confident that their slightly improved roster will lead them to another post-season appearance this year.

Taking everything into consideration, it appears to be a tough call to expect anything else than a win by the Sharks’ in front of their home crowd. Most importantly, the team of head coach Tod McLellan has an abundance of highly efficient offensive options that often allow them to prevail even if a go-to guy such as Heatley has an off-night. Therefore, Rob Blake and the San Jose Sharks are undoubtedly entering this match-up as everyone’s favorites to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.
