After two consecutive wins to open the season, the Columbus Blue Jackets are confidently looking ahead to their road trip. Likewise, the Coyotes got off a good start with a 6-3 win versus the Kings despite all the negative discussions surrounding the franchise off the ice. Thus, the Blue Jackets will travel to Arizona where they will meet the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday at 1 a.m. GMT.

Although the Coyotes managed to clinch a victory on the road in their season opener, there is very little doubt that David Tippett’s team is much more comfortable at home. Being the worst road team in the Western Conference in 2008-09, Phoenix rarely performed well away from Jobing.com arena last year. However, home might not be much longer in Phoenix as the Coyotes will apparently relocate to Hamilton, ON, next season. In contrast, the Columbus Blue Jackets are coming off an excellent first week of play and were able to beat the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks 2-1 and 5-3 respectively. So far, the leadership of captain Rick Nash has been vital to the Jackets’ success as he did not only record three assists but also showed the ability to lead the team under pressure. Given the fact that the Blue Jackets will more likely than not be in the playoff mix and the Coyotes missed the post-season for six consecutive years, Columbus will enter the game with a slight advantage. However, one should not underestimate the squad of coach Tippett who will try to focus on performing well on the ice rather than having to deal with the future of the bankrupt franchise.
