Although the Wild did not play particularly bad in the first week of regular season play, they still ended up losing twice in a row to the Carolina Hurricanes by just one goal. Yet, Minnesota's problems remain at the offensive end of the ice where the team has been struggling significantly since Marian Gaborik left the Wild last year. Nonetheless, the Minnesota Wild will try get back on track when they host Rick Nash and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday at midnight GMT.

In contrast, the Jackets got off to a 1-0-1 start as they opened the season with a back-to-back versus Dany Heatley and the San Jose Sharks. Considering Columbus finished just 14^th in the Western Conference in 2009-10, Rick Nash and company would be more than happy if they could keep up their high level of play and establish themselves in the playoff race. Thus, the Blue Jackets will head to Minnesota trying to steal one on the road on Sunday night.

Having made it to the playoffs just once in the past ten years, the pressure on Rick Nash and company to lead the Blue Jackets to success has certainly been rising as of late. Thus, the Columbus Blue Jackets will take on Mikko Koivu and the Minnesota Wild on Friday at midnight GMT.

Similarly, Minnesota's management is not particularly thrilled with the team's recent performance as the Wild failed to make it to the post-season two times in a row, including a disappointing 13^th place finish in the Eastern Conference last year. That said, losing franchise scoring leader Marian Gaborik last year was a huge setback and even though Mikko Koivu stepped up in Gaborik's absence, the team still seemed to lack offensive firing power at times. Taking said circumstances into account, it looks like Minnesota and Columbus might find themselves on a relatively level playing field on Friday night. Ultimately, both teams have their fair share of problems but can be expected to compete with a lot of energy at both ends of the ice.
