Even though the Kings already experienced some ups and downs early in the season, coach Terry Murray is fairly content with the overall performance of his team so far. Holding on to a 6-4-0 record, Los Angeles is confidently entering their match-up with the Columbus Blue Jackets at Staples Center on Monday at 1 a.m. GMT.

Given the fact that the Los Angeles Kings were far away from making it to the post-season in 2008-09, the first three weeks of play have certainly been a pleasant surprise for the franchise from California. They might lack consistency, but especially their offensive efforts looked much better than last year. Above all, Anze Kopitar has been phenomenal thus far as he scored eight goals and dished out another eight assists for 16 points in just 10 games.
The Blue Jackets on the other hand got off to an impressive 5-1-0 start, but slowed down during their road trip to the west coast. More specifically, the team around Rick Nash lost two straight versus the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers, allowing no less than 12 goals. Particularly disappointing was the 6-4 loss versus the Oilers when the Jackets blew a 4-1 lead on the road.
Taking everything into consideration, the Blue Jackets and Kings could find themselves on a level playing field when they face each other on Monday night. Thus far, both teams have shown their fair share of shortcomings at the defensive end of the ice on some nights while showcasing exciting offense on other days. Ultimately, the match-up between the Jackets and Kings might come down who plays up to his potential and keeps turnovers to a minimum.
