Even though the Rangers are holding on to a 1-1-0 record after one week of play, the 6-4 loss versus their in-state rivals from Long Islands put some pressure on the team around Marian Gaborik to get back on track. Therefore, the New York Rangers are hoping to feed off the support of their home crowd in their encounter with Paul Stastny and the Colorado Avalanche on Monday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Taking into account that the Avs were the worst team in the entire league two years ago, their post-season appearance in 2008-09 was a huge success for the franchise from Denver. That said, Colorado is hoping to make another step forward in this year's NHL campaign and will try to make it to the upper echelon of the Western Conference down the stretch. Most importantly, the team around Paul Stastny will have to improve at the defensive end of the ice as the Avalanche tend to experience too many breakdowns and unforced turnovers.
