Although the Blues got off to a good start into this year's NHL campaign, they ended up dropping three straight this week and find themselves under significant pressure to live up to their own expectations. Thus, the St Louis Blues will host Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday at midnight GMT.

Leading the Western Conference after two weeks of regular season play, the defending Stanley Cup champions from Chicago seem to be on their way to another season at the top of the league. Although the Hawks dropped their first two games versus the Colorado Avalanche and Detroit Red Wings, the team around Patrick Kane subsequently bounced back with four wins in five games. Taking into account that the Hawks are one of the few teams in the league that perform equally well at both ends of the ice, the Blues will most likely have a tough time competing with Patrick Sharp and company on Saturday night.

Even though Paul Kariya and the Blues showed some progress last year, the franchise from Missouri ultimately ended up missing the post-season for the fourth time in five years. About to face another difficult challenge, the St Louis Blues will host Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks in a preseason game on Friday at midnight GMT.

Unlike the Blues, things have been going amazingly well for the Hawks over the past two years. More precisely, the franchise pulled off a Conference Finals appearance in 2009 before winning the Stanely Cup this year. Thus, the Blackhawks did not have to make any major moves this summer and will count on their current group of players to make another championship run in 2010-11. Similarly, the Blues also stayed pretty much put although it should be mentioned that St Louis was holding on to the fourteenth and sixteenth overall pick respectively. Thus, the Blues were able to sign Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko who could both earn significant playing time in the upcoming NHL campaign. That said, there is no doubt that the Hawks are the better overall team and will most likely have an edge of the Blues on Friday night.
