Given the fact that the 'Canes surprisingly failed to make it the playoffs in 2009-10, the franchise's front-office is fairly content with the team's performance up to this point. Holding on to a 4-3-0 record, Carolina finds itself right in the playoff mix after two weeks of action. Thus, Eric Staal and the Carolina Hurricanes will host the Washington Capitals on Wednesday at 11 p.m. GMT.
While the Caps' offense might not have been quite as explosive as last year in the first three weeks of regular season play, the team around Alex Ovechkin showed that they are going to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference in this year's NHL campaign nonetheless. Yet, there appears to be no doubt that anything else than a win for Alex Ovechkin and company would be a huge surprise when the Capitals meet the Hurricanes on Wednesday.
