Without any doubts, few experts around the league expected the Sabres to pull off a third place finish in the Eastern Conference last year. However, the team around Derek Roy subsequently failed to deliver in the post-season as they experienced a disappointing first round exit versus the Boston Bruins. Thus, the Buffalo Sabres are hoping to get back on track when they host Marian Gaborik and the New York Rangers on Saturday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Considering that the Rangers signed Daniel Girardi and Marc Staal to multi-year deals this summer, their performance at the defensive end of the floor left much to be desired in the preseason. After all, both players are hard nosed defenders who were brought to the Big Apple in order to strengthen the Rangers' defensive lines to avoid another year out of the playoff mix. That being said, New York's offense has been looking much better as of late and could very well lead the squad of coach John Tortorella back to the post-season down the stretch.
