While the Sabres were hoping for another year in the upper echelon of the league, Derek Roy and company won just four out of fifteen games so far and were disastrously unorganized at the defensive end of the ice. Thus, the Buffalo Sabres will play Ilya Kovalchuk and the New Jersey Devils on Thursday at midnight GMT.

Having entered the 2010-11 season with a lot of hopes to compete for a championship, the Devils experienced a series of disappointing losses and find themselves on the last place of the Eastern Conference after one month of play. Most importantly, New Jersey's offense has been completely out of synch as the team around Zach Parise scored just 1.7 goals per contest. Given the fact that the franchise acquired All-Star Ilya Kovalchuk to improve their offensive lines and become a legitimate Stanley Cup contender, the poor performance of coach Jacques Lemaire has certainly been very frustrating. Therefore, the Devils will do their best to get back on track when they host the Sabres on Thursday night.

Having opened the season with a five game losing streak, the pressure is slowly rising as the Sabres are trying to bounce back from their slow start. Thus, the Buffalo Sabres will be looking for a win when they meet Zach Parise and the New Jersey Devils on Saturday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Given the fact that the Devils have made it to the post-season every year for more than a decade, the team around Zach Parise is inevitably facing high expectations in this year's NHL campaign. Unfortunately, hardly anything has been going according to plan so far as New Jersey posted a disappointing 1-4-1 record to start the season. Especially their defense has been mediocre at best, allowing their opponents to score no less than 3.5 goals per game. That being said, the Devils certainly have the individual talent to play much better hockey. Most importantly, off-season acquisition Ilya Kovalchuk will have to do a better job at leading the team offensively down the stretch.
