Posting a 1-1-0 record to start this year's NHL campaign, the Bruins showed that while they might have a healthy squad for once, there are still some issues that will have to be addressed. Most importantly, Marc Savard and company will have to bring a more consistent effort at the defensive end of the ice to make it to the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference down the stretch. Thus, the Boston Bruins will head to D.C. where they will meet Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals at Verizon Center on Tuesday at 11:30 p.m. GMT.

The Caps on the other hand picked up right where they left off at the end of the regular season last year, as the team around Alex Ovechkin won three straight after falling to the Atlanta Trashers on opening night. Much like in the past, the Capitals' dynamic offense has been on fire, averaging 3.5 goals per contest so far. That said, things might get more difficult in the upcoming week as Washington will play four of its next five games on the road. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that the Caps will be everyone's favorites to secure another home win when they host the Bruins on Tuesday night.

Even though the Bruins reached the Conference semi-finals last year, the franchise's management was not overly excited with the performance of the team around Marc Savard. Thus, the Boston Bruins are looking to overcome Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals in a preseason match on Tuesday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Considering that the Washington Capitals finished last year's NHL campaign with an impressive 54-15-13 record and the number one overall seed, the team's subsequent first round playoff exit versus the eight seeded Montreal Canadiens was certainly unforeseen. Especially franchise centerpiece Alex Ovechkin was extensively criticized due to his inability to lead the team to post-season success despite an outstanding regular season in which he posted 50 goals and 59 assists for a total of 109 points in just 72 games. That being sad, the Caps will still enter their encounter with the Bruins as everyone's favorites to secure a win at Verizon Center on Tuesday night. Albeit Boston might not have a player with the individual talent of Alex Ovechkin, the franchise from Massachusetts can count on a very solid overall team that can play well at both ends of the ice.
