Although the Bruins had high expectations for this year’s NHL campaign, they failed to deliver in the first two weeks of action. Posting a mediocre 2-3-0 record, the franchise has yet to play up to their abilities and establish itself in the upper half of the Eastern Conference. Thus, the Bruins will host the Nashville Predators at TD Banknorth Garden on Wednesday at 11 p.m. GMT.

Despite their good start into the 2009-10 season, the Nashville Predators hit a slump in the second week of play and dropped three straight. However, it was not the fact that they were unable to come away with a victory that upset their fanbase, but the lack of intensity and willingness to fight on the ice. More specifically, the Predators suffered a 6-1 blowout loss versus the Edmonton Oilers at home before being steamrolled 6-0 in Dallas two days later. Offensively very little has been going the right way for Nashville as they scored a league-low 1.4 goals per contest.

In contrast, the Bruins had no trouble scoring but seemed lost in front of their own net at times. Allowing 19 goals in five contests, the team around Marc Savard will have to improve their defensive efforts to live up to their self-proclaimed contender status. Taking everything into consideration, the Nashville Predators will enter the match-up with Boston as underdogs but might be able to give the Bruins a run for their money. That said, the odds favor the franchise from Massachusetts provided Marco Sturm and company get their act together.
