Considering that Buffalo finished last year's NHL campaign as third playoff seed in the East, the slow start of the Sabres was somewhat surprising. After narrowly missing the post-season in 2009-10, the Trashers find themselves right in the playoff mix after two weeks of play as the team around Nik Antropov posted a 3-2-0 record. That said, Atlanta will eventually have to improve its defense in order to make it to the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference. After all, the Trashers allowed a whopping 3.2 goals per contest and have been struggling to show any consistent effort at the defensive end of the ice. Therefore, it looks like Atlanta is about to have a tough challenge when the Sabres are in town on Wednesday night.
