Albeit the United States might not have as much individual talent on board as Canada or Russia, coach Ron Wilson’s squad is certainly not an easy opponent to overcome either. Hoping to clinch an important win before their showdown versus Canada on Monday, Zach Parise and company will take on Norway on Thursday at 8 p.m. GMT.

While the U.S. will have to rely on a solid team effort to overcome other contenders, their encounter with the Norwegian hockey team should not be a particularly difficult obstacle to overcome. After all, the American hockey team has its fair share of capable NHL players and will undoubtedly have an edge over Norway. Offensively, Zach Parise and Patrick Kane are expected to lead the team and will most likely have very little trouble finding the net on Thursday night. Likewise, Ryan Miller from the Buffalo Sabres and Tim Thomas from the Boston Bruins are two excellent goaltenders who appear to be bound to make things difficult for Norway’s offense. Ultimately, the Norwegian squad simply lacks enough individual talent to pose a real threat to any team loaded with NHL players at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
