Switzerland v Canada Live

Due to the format of this year’s Olympic hockey tournament, Canada is not under a lot of pressure to perform well in the group stage as far as their chances to win a medal are concerned, yet anything else than a victory would be disappointing in Vancouver. Thus, the team around Sydney Crosby will be looking for their second win in Group A when they face Switzerland on Friday at 0:30 a.m. GMT.

Albeit the Swiss team does not even remotely have as much individual talent on their roster as the Canadians, they have shown in the past that their solid defense and team effort can make things difficult for any opponent. That said, it is hard to imagine how Switzerland could possibly clinch a win versus Dany Heatley and company. After all, Canada is one of the few teams that plays equally well at both ends of the ice and can count on their All-Star forwards Dany Heatley, Sydney Crosby and Joe Thornton to find the net on a consistent basis. Likewise, goaltender Martin Brodeur can be expected to give Switzerland’s offensive lines around Mark Streit from the New York Islanders a tough time throughout the entire game.
