Coming off a silver medal in 2006, Finland's national hockey team is facing the tough challenge of living up to the expectations of their fans at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Thus, the team around former NHL All-Star Teemu Selanne will take on Belarus on Wednesday at 8 p.m. GMT.

Even though Finland has its fair share of capable NHL players, the Scandinavian side might not be as dominant in Vancouver as they used to be in the past. Most importantly, coach Jukka Jalonen's defense is not nearly as strong as other competitors like Canada or Sweden. Therefore, Finland's forwards will most likely have to put up big numbers in order to have a legitimate shot at an Olympic medal. That said, Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu are still two of the better offensive players in the NHL and are hoping to lead their team throughout the tournament. Likewise, goaltender Niklas Bäckström might have to pull off some spectacular saves once the elimination round gets underway. Nonetheless, Finland will evidently enter their encounter with Belarus as everyone's favorites to clinch a win in the opening game of Group C.
