Czech Republic v Slovakia Live

After a bronze medal in 2006, hockey fans from the Czech Republic are expecting another great performance of their team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. However, the level of play of their competitors might make their mission more difficult than they would like it to be. Thus, Jaromir Jagar and the Czech hockey team will take on their rivals from Slovakia in the first game of Group B on Thursday at 2:55 a.m. GMT.

Unlike the Czech Republic, the Slovakian team is not facing a tremendous amount of pressure, yet they could surprise many fans with their performance in Vancouver. More precisely, the Slovaks have no less than 14 serviceable NHL players on their roster, led by Marian Gaborik from the New York Rangers and Miroslav Satan from the Boston Bruins. That said, competing with the Czech national hockey team will be tough since coach Vladimír Ružicka can once again count on an excellent squad to represent the Eastern European country at the Olympics. Former NHL All-Star Jaromir Jagr will join the likes of Tomas Kaberle and Tomas Plekanec to carry the team throughout the tournament.
