Given the fact that the Canadian hockey team only finished 7th in the 2006 Winter Olympics, the team around Dany Heatley and Sydney Crosby is facing a lot of pressure in this year's Olympic hockey tournament. Thus, Canada is hoping to get off to a good start when they take on Norway on Wednesday at 0:30 a.m. GMT.

While the Norwegian squad is very pleased with qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics, the expectations coming their way are as low as they get. With only one NHL legionnaire on board and plenty of players who play in lower-tier European leagues, they will most likely be overwhelmed by their opponents' level of play. After all, the Canadians do not only have an excellent defense around veteran defenders Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer, but can also count on a group very capable forwards. More specifically, Sydney Crosby from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Dany Heatley, Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau from the San Jose Sharks as well as left wing Rick Nash are among the best offensive players in the NHL. Thus, it remains to be seen whether Norway will be able to avoid a blow-out loss versus Team Canada on Wednesday night.
