Thomas Vanek is A Ok To Play

Thomas VanekIn National Hockey League news the Buffalo Sabers are happy. They just found out that one of their star players isn't as badly injured as previously thought. Thomas Vanek was injured during a game against the Detroit Red Wings that caused some type of upper body injury and made all concerned that he would be out for a long time, perhaps several weeks. However, they found out that he apparently is okay and may even play in the weekend's game, most likely on Saturday. The game against Detroit ended in a win for the Sabers 6-2.

The Sabres are certainly glad to hear that because Vanek is one of the stars for the team on the ice having scored 40 goals twice. Last year both Vanek and Ryan Miller, who is the goalie were injured for a while and this turned to make it difficult for Buffalo. After the game, Vanek left without any sort of slings or casts but was thought to have had chest x-rays, specifically on his ribs. Vanek scored the second goal of the game as they played the Red Wings.

This was a two fold injury as Vanek was injured earlier before the goal after colliding with Brad May, the former forward for the Buffalo Sabres. He said that he had known that he was a little hurt after the collision but decided to tough it out. However, after the goal, Vanek fell and then went straight to the bench where he spent a few minutes there, obviously in pain, before going into the locker room. Vanek said that he decided to get it checked out after the shift. The team thought that he was going to be out for a very long time after that injury but it turns out he is fine and will likely play in Saturday's game.
