The San Jose Sharks had eight players go to the 2010 Winter Olympics this year while the Chicago Blackhawks sent six of their own. Nine of the players that went ended up on the ice together as teammates. But now, they need to change their mindset from friend to foe, because the Blackhaws and the Sharks will face off for the finale of the Western Conference which will take place on Sunday at the HP Pavilion with game time at 3PM local time.
The team ended up winning a silver medal for the United States, and now that they have rested, they can get set to face off against each other on the ice. Joe Pavelski of the Sharks said as much, being on the Olympic USA Team, saying that the rest allowed the team to have time to bounce back and continue on with the rest of the season. Blackhawsk coah Joel Quenneville said that was his plan all along for the Olympic players, giving them a couple of days off as often as possible so that they could “replenish their tanks”.
Defenseman for the Haws Brent Seabrook played for Team Canada and won the Golf Medal, along with Duncan Keith and Jonathan Toews. He said that it was cool to meet the other hockey players at the Olympics but now that they were back they had a job to do. Dan Boyle, Joe Thorton, Patrick Marleau and Dany Heatley were Gold Medal winners that play for the Sharks. Dan Boyle responded that the Olympics were different when asked how it compared with the Stanley Cup, saying that since it is one game, it is more like Game 7.
