The New Jersey Devils signed veteran Brendan Shanahan to a one-year contract on Sunday. Shanahan, who turns 40 in two weeks, will head back to the city he started his career in. The future hall of fame selection was drafted by the Devils back in 1987 as the number two pick overall. Shanahan played for the New York Rangers last season, but was not resigned. Shanahan has played 21 seasons in the National Hockey League, and has scored 650 goals and compiled 1,340 points. Those numbers rank him 11th on the career goal list and 24th overall in points. Shanahan has also won three Stanley Cup Championships; all three with the Detroit Red Wings.
