Patrick SharpIn an exciting game finish between the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks, star player Patrick Sharp scored his 19th goal of the season and consequently bagging their eighth straight victory of the season also creating history by matching the straight wins record of eight matches in a row by the same team in front of a roaring crowd of almost 2300 spectators! The other series years when the Blackhawks created history were 1971 and 1981.

In another exciting match between the Islanders and the Maple Leafs, the islanders beat Maple Leaf 4 to 1. The match held in Uniondale, New York amidst a packed crowd saw Guerin, playing for the Islanders score is 400th goal making him 79th NHL player to do so. He is also the eighth US born player to have achieved this impressive feat!

Meanwhile in Atlanta, as the Hurricanes locked horns with the Thrashers, Eric Staal rewrote history by scoring 3 goals in 4 minutes and 31 seconds flat overshadowing Bryan Little’s hat trick for his team, a career first for him. This is Staal’s sixth career hat trick and lead his team Carolina to victory in a close finish of 5 to 4.

On the same front, the Capitals and Sabres also took each other 1 on 1 in a fast paced match in Washington with a close finish in favor of the Capitals who beat the Sabres by 1 goal. Ovechkin’s goal was the third and the last goal which helped the Capitals establish an early lead which they held onto by saving 22 goals!
