The team Blues named after their club Blues Hockey.This is one of the top three teams in the league along with Tappara from the club Tamhockey Oy and the reigning champs Kärpät from the club Oulun Kärpät Oy. Other clubs and their respective teams include Ilves from Ilves-Hockey Oy, Jokerit from Jokerit HC Oy, KalPa from KalPa Hockey Oy, Oulu from Oulun Energia Areena, Lukko from Rauman Lukko Oy, TPS from HC TPS Turku Oy, Pelicans from Lahden Pelicans Oy. Bringing up the rear end of the list are SaiPa from Liiga-SaiPa Oy, HIFK from HIFK Hockey Ab and finally Ässät from HC Ässät Pori Oy. The SM Liga cup is called Kanada-malja and the winner is decided after theall teams have played against each other and double matches with local opponents in the regular season followed by the Play-Offs wherein the top six qualifying teams play best of three matches considered as the quarter finals. Successive winning teams go on to play the semi-finals and the final match which falls around end of April. Apart from the trophy of the tournament, the Kanada-malja, various other trophies like best player of the season, coach, team, etc., are also awarded.
