The Kontinental Hockey League is a brand new championship created on the lines of the National Hockey League, created with an aim to establish Russian and European supremacy in Ice Hockey League. Twenty Four teams will compete in the championship and all this can be caught online through live streams on www.watchlivenhl.com. The teams would be divided into four pools of six streams each based on the team ratings calculated on the previous match statistics for the last five seasons. This is a probable list and slated to change. The pods will be named after Russian Hockey League Legends Chernyshev, Tarasov, Kharlamov and Bobrov. Other two names are yet to be decided. Each team can register a maximum of twenty five players for the League games under the Kontinental League and amongst these there can be only four star players. One of these must be an established or upcoming European player.

The championship cup is named after the first man in Space, the Russian Astronaut Yuri Gagarin and the cup final will co-incide with the date of his feat 12th April. Teams will play four games each in their pod and two games against other pools for the regular season and these can be watched live online on www.watchlivenhl.com with the live stream option. These will be followed by best-of-five and best-of-seven between the top seeds, culminating in the season finale!
